Denis, now that you made Dune 2, maybe you direct better than before, hahahaha, it's impossible to direct better than you !!!!

Movie of the Year in many ways.

I'm less interested in this type of science fiction film that attempts to be mysterious solely to convey ideas or showcase grand scenes. The movie is filled with epic, war-like scores, which can get a little fatiguing after a while. While these visuals and scenes may resonate with readers of the original novel, the story feels somewhat hollow for non-readers like me.

This movie might not immediately grab your attention if you're unfamiliar with the background. However, once you become invested, you'll want to rewatch it twice or thrice, gradually realizing its charm and allure. After rewatching the first part multiple times before this one, I was amazed. The director truly brings the novel's world to life, maintaining consistency in the story, whether it's set in the past or the future. Absolutely fantastic.

It's delightful, and the pacing is expertly handled, allowing those unfamiliar with the original novel or background info to easily engage with the story. My first viewing in an IMAX theater completely captivated me with its enigmatic plot and stunning visual effects. On the second viewing, I could appreciate the score, the distinct aesthetic styles of various planets and factions, and the actors' portrayals of their characters more nuancedly. I eagerly anticipate the release of DUNE: PART THREE!

The film delves into ecological, societal, and future-oriented issues by depicting and metaphorically representing a desert world. Living in such an inhospitable environment challenges human survival capabilities and promotes reflection on the concept of societal civilization. Through meticulous attention to detail, the film vividly portrays the state of human survival and the dilemmas faced in extreme environments within this desert world.

While watching DUNE: PART ONE, I couldn't help but criticize the backwardness of the systems and ideologies, especially in contrast to the advanced technology. However, after watching this sequel, I realized that it might be a realistic portrayal, considering our current situation. It made me reflect on how we may continue to suffer from the flaws of human nature despite the rapidly advancing technology.

It's a bit disappointing. This film didn't leave as strong an impression on me as the first one. The visuals are still incredible, but the plot and logic are messy. Honestly, the visual designs of space, desert, castle, and indoor scenes didn't surprise me as much as they did in the first film. Overall, this one felt more like an artsy film, and the final action scenes didn't resonate with me at all.

This director takes the series project to a darker, grander, and more action-packed direction. Every frame is filled with breathtaking beauty and attention to detail. The film is excellent in both the audio and visual aspects, especially when complemented by Hans Zimmer's seamlessly integrated score. I'm eagerly anticipating the final chapter!

Maybe because I was such a huge fan of “Part 1” and had high hopes, I felt a bit disappointed after watching it. Denis Villeneuve’s audiovisual work is still fantastic, and it sends shivers down your spine at times when combined with Hans Zimmer’s music. However, the plot seems kinda all over the place. Since I haven’t read the original book, I can’t say for sure if it’s true to the book or if it’s just a poor adaptation since I do think we need more explanation and development of the character’s motivations.

Denis Villeneuve truly brings top-notch visual creativity and style to Hollywood. He expertly incorporates elements of the detached, crazy vibe common in Quebec’s cinema into these high-budget Hollywood films. However, while visually striking, this movie disappoints with its uninspiring plot, lackluster execution, and undercooked characters. This leads to a stark contrast that leaves viewers seriously impressed by his visual flair but annoyed by the dull romantic subplots and overly mysterious themes.

The narration in Part 2 has been slightly improved compared to Part 1, but it was still limited. The characters still appeared flat and uninteresting, even though each has been explained more. The romantic scenes were a big letdown, with way too many unnecessary moments. Lastly, I just want to rant about how certain big-budget movies have been visually overwhelming in recent years, leaving audiences feeling completely drained afterward. Especially for Denis Villeneuve, the master of visuals and sound, the non-stop assault of loud audio and intense visuals in his films feels more like a step back regarding technology.
