K AugustJanuary 15, 2026If I had to call it, I would say that Jordan Peele has spent most of his life living the life that I have lived: a love of horror from a young age; posing of difficult questions about race and my place in society; the use of film to delve deeper into these and other issues, etc. Yes, I think I can say that. And I can also say that 'Get Out' deserves it's place on the list of the best films of this century. I went to see it at a matineé...and then I headed back to the same theatre in less than a week to watch it again. I knew that the layers were there, the story had to be told, and that I had never seen anything like this before. It began a very interesting line of work from one of the best young filmmakers of our time. And I may have to take another peak...
...After I take a long sleep.

Carlee_EdwardsJuly 7, 2024This film is a pleasant surprise. The director blends various horror subgenres seamlessly, with well-laid details and a gradually intensifying pace. The result is a thought-provoking experience. However, the climax feels rushed, and a better fleshed-out ending would have been better.

Bradford_ChandlerJuly 7, 2024The first 80 minutes builds on the suspense, like the calm before a storm, with an unsettling uncertainty. You know everything around you is false and deceptive but can't pinpoint the exact cause. The final 20 minutes reveal all the answers, gripping the audience and freeing them from the uncertainty. The director masterfully plays tricks with our minds, delivering a plot rich with satire and dark humor.

theohoratioMarch 21, 2024Extremely clever, it's akin to The Skeleton Key and Close Your Eyes. The story lacks exciting twists, but the details are cleverly laid out, deeply disturbing, and bone-chilling upon closer examination. The film has many details that echo each other, and one has to pay full attention to grasp the intricacies.

SuperDCM+March 21, 2024Themes of black slavery and whitewashing are injected into a fairly standard cult storyline, and they are creatively presented. The narrative is neat and concise, delving into the protagonist's past in an organic and effective way. It portrays the hypocrisy and racism of middle-class white people. This story is highly relatable at any time in the racially charged American society.

toKoralíMarch 21, 2024It fell far below my expectations. A perfectly good anti-utopian theme was ruined. The plot was too draggy, spending an hour and a half of set up just for the final 10 minutes of "escape." The only highlight was the solid performance by the protagonist. Also, did they pay royalties for using the core idea from The Skeleton Key?

Paula PardillosMarch 12, 2024Is there anything left to say about this modern classic? It literally changed the reality of how horror is taken seriously. Totally deserved Oscar.

lexieeJanuary 30, 2024Have no doubt about racism, racism kills and this movie is just a great parody of what black people live every day. The first concern of the protagonist is that the parents of his new girlfriend know that his black, well, I just say: Yeah, they know... AND GET OUT, DUDE! The tension in this movie is suffocating, you just don't know what's going to happen, but you're sure that some crazy stuff is going to unfold. It is one of the best horror movies I have ever seen.

brycebddMarch 24, 2021Horror and racism
Although this is predominantly a horror film, the way in which the director addresses the topic of racism could classify it as a comedy or, ultimately, as an absurd horror.
