The plot is simple and easy to understand. This movie, therefore, is a good starting point for children to understand cultures apart from their own. The film portrays diverse cultural elements of Asia without demeaning or caricaturing them, which is fantastic. I'd love to see more movies promoting peace, unity, and inclusivity.

This film is Disney's reiteration of universal values through an Asian female protagonist and a formulaic adventure mode. This is especially evident as we see the protagonists learning to trust and overcome prejudice in a disaster-stricken land. Despite the overt preaching, Disney manages to craft a fairy tale out of clichéd stories.

The higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment. The first half's formulaic adventure is quite standard, but the latter half is a joke. All this preaching in animated films probably only works on children. While the art, voice acting, music, and action scenes are of high quality, these aspects alone can't save the film.

The film's attempt to blend and adapt traditions of other cultures falls short this time in a work that feels hollow and superficial. "Raya and the Last Dragon" fails to impress in either narrative or character design, despite its technical achievements.

If I had seen this movie ten years ago I would’ve been shocked, but ten years later I'm used to this kind of formulaic story. This movie also exposes a very serious problem of Disney's: attempting to integrate and innovate on other cultures, but they're stubbornly rooting those so-called traditional thinking underneath the story, resulting in the presentation of an unusually hollow and thin work. Frozen was successful because of its creative plot and massive improvements in technology, but this movie, apart from its technological aspects, has a really bad plot and characterizations.

Watched with high expectations so I was slightly disappointed. The plot is a bit clichéd and childish, which is all about breakthroughs and growth, and the solution at the end is kind of arbitrary. At its core, the story is about trust and suspicion, where trust brings unity and suspicion brings betrayal, and such a theme is more suited to children. It's worth lowering expectations for the Southeast Asian princesses and the mixture of Eastern cultures, the theme of self-growth, the essential cute animals, and the adventure. Also, Awkwafina's voice is too recognizable. Btw, I’m kinda confused - why everyone is in a fixed pose after being petrified, but the main characters get to choose their own petrification poses?
