Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (2017)★ 4.9/10

It took me half the movie to get used to the fact that all the actors in the same family had been recast. It’s a reminder of how challenging it is to make sequels for movies centered on child actors. No wonder the next two installments were animated—cartoon characters never age!

This movie represents a restart to Greg’s saga on screen. They recast the characters so they could be as young as they are in the books. At first it seems weird, but I got used to them. The movie is funny and reaches its goal, entertaining mainly kids, but also getting a laugh out of the adults.
