The Lion King (2019)★ 7.5/10

I believe every child should watch this movie about courage and self-growth. Children might enjoy the movie for its entertaining storyline without grasping its deeper meanings, and parents can guide them to see how Simba evolves from a naive cub to the Lion King as he overcomes obstacles, mirroring the challenges and setbacks we face in life. The themes of responsibility, respect, optimism, and resilience in Simba are qualities we all need to learn and embody.

This film is truly spectacular. Not only is it a classic, it also carries significant educational value. It’s about a hero’s journey from innocence to maturity, experiencing pain yet facing it courageously, ultimately rising to greatness with the help of loyal and kind friends. The ending mirrors the opening scene, creating a simple yet profound sense of destiny.

Wow, oh wow, the new version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," sung by Beyoncé and Donald, is absolutely amazing! And let me tell you, this movie is a true audiovisual feast. The background music makes you feel like you're right in the African jungle, and the way they re-enact the classic songs is truly impressive. The characters are portrayed well, and the music and story are even more nuanced and seamless than the original animated film. The beginning perfectly captures the essence of the original, with attention to detail. The movie also features so many adorable animal babies, and I can't help but get excited every time I see little Simba!

I believe technology is the reason for this movie's success as it is for its downfall. The animal characters look so realistic, with their fur and muscles rendered impeccably. Unfortunately, it took away some immersion for me because they looked too real to be talking in human language. But hey, if you just want to revisit a childhood classic, you can give it a watch. It stays true to the original without much innovation.

I don't know why people complain so much about the animation's realism, it's beautiful and does not affects anything negatively. Keegan-Michael Key and John Oliver were my favorites dubbing performances, I love those guys.

I would say that there is not much to say about this live action because it is practically the same film as the original, only that it is poorly constructed, with a questionable dubbing and a direction that is not bad but it is not even the shadow of what it was in its animated version, not even the soundtrack hit as much as the original classic did. A film without a soul and with nothing to contribute and that is only kept alive thanks to nostalgia and visual effects.

I didn’t grow up watching the animation, so I had no expectations for this movie, but I ended up liking it. It didn’t bother me how realistic the animals were, I actually enjoyed that. The new versions of the songs called my attention, they are really good.
