SuperDCM+October 31, 2023I didn't realize that the strongest thing is a tongue-lashing. Chapter 2 is actually less exciting, probably because Chapter 1 was so good. Even though the actors are still amazing in Chapter 2, the movie itself falls back into the typical horror movie formula, and it has lost the youthfulness of the first film. The plot carries on with that of Chapter 1, confronting their pasts and childhood traumas, strengthening their mentalities and overcoming their fears. The parts where the present corresponds to the past are quite moving.

Both the first and second films talk about overcoming fear. Fear may be something you're afraid of, your family, or a painful memory you don't wish to recall. As seen in the movie, when they return to town, their fears and pain experienced in the town all come back; but more importantly, their happy moments and unforgettable friendships are back, too. One is bound to go through all kinds of encounters and pains one loath to face in life, but how can life be complete if you are unwilling to admit that it’s part of the dark side of life? Btw, Pennywise is actually scolded to death in the end… That's right, scolded to death…
