I was drawn to the concept of a pill granting five minutes of superpowers and didn’t expect much from the story. True to form, the film lacks a coherent plot, but I didn’t anticipate the action scenes to be so underwhelming. The superpower battles are sparse and unremarkable. Beyond the intriguing concept, the film offers little else of satisfaction.

The film uses superpowers to metaphorically address America’s drug problem—a flashy concept with conflicting themes. It criticizes the effects of these pills, yet the protagonist ultimately relies on them to activate his powers and defeat the villain. The fight scenes and action sequences are decent, the animal-based powers are intriguing, and the visual effects are commendable.
