Happy Death Day 2U (2019)★ 6.5/10

It’s a slight step down from the first, but still a fun ride. The added sci-fi and emotional beats don’t drag it down—in fact, they inject new energy. The film remains highly entertaining and continues to play fast and loose with genre conventions.

The first film already wrapped things up neatly, yet this sequel somehow reopens the story with surprising creativity and makes it work. It’s a clever twist on the original premise, transforming what began as a B-movie into something that plays more like an inventive sci-fi drama.

The new characters and the sci-fi aspect of it justifies the release of this sequel, much more than a lot of horror sequels that you see around the movie industry.

So much better than the first one. This one feels like it actually has consequences, so it has all that tension you would expect from a horror, that the first one lacked.

The comedy/humor at this film is so well written, just on point, and what is cooler is how it balances with the thriller creating an entertaining experience.

It made me laugh a lot. There is a problem in the plot, but not a big one. The reason why the time travels happened ended up being weird in the context of the first movie. But that is the only “negative” comment I have about it. I love the plot twists and the mystery surrounding Tree and the guys.
