Todd_FlemingAugust 15, 2024This 1999 film has commendable CGI, especially during the podracing scene, which was nothing short of spectacular and adrenaline-pumping. Considering the technical limitations of the time, achieving such effects was no small feat. However, an over-reliance on CGI can be problematic, particularly when the technology was still in its infancy, often giving the effects an animated, somewhat out-of-place feel.

Adam_CookAugust 15, 2024As an early entry in the sci-fi genre, revisiting "The Phantom Menace" still sparks the imagination. It’s astounding to think that such a well-made film, complete with engaging characters and impressive special effects, was produced so many years ago. After watching, I couldn’t help but wonder if our future might be filled with spaceships and robots, just like in the movie.

Antonia_MillsAugust 9, 2024Bravo! This late '90s film is awe-inspiring. It holds up well even today, with only a few minor flaws you hardly notice. Not only is the story awesome, the planet designs, spaceships, droids, costumes, colors, are all top-notch. It's right up there with the best of today's movies. Now, I'm officially a huge fan of the Star Wars saga!

Benedict_HarringtonAugust 9, 2024Yeah, this is a simple, entertaining flick. The CGI effects might look a little outdated now, but that Podrace scene is still epic. The cinematography and filming techniques are top-notch and really make it stand out. Going back to the prequel after watching the original trilogy, it's hard not to feel a little bummed about Anakin Skywalker's downfall. It's a rough turn of events, but as a fan, you just gotta accept it.

Anthony_GibsonAugust 9, 2024This movie is way better than the first three, whether the acting or the plot. You can tell film technology and the times have come a long way. But what really sets it apart is George Lucas's hands-on approach to making sure his vision comes through on screen. He's definitely doing his job as a director and delivering the good stuff.

Alphonse_CarpenterAugust 9, 2024This movie feels like a historical take on the Roman Republic turning into an empire, but it's all set in the Star Wars universe. Anyway, this movie tells the origin story of young Darth Vader. But even with all the cool visuals, it was a bit of a snoozer compared to the other movies in the series. And the alien designs were just so bad that I can't even bring myself to like them. I'd give it a 5.3 out of 10.

Bryan_MitchellAugust 9, 2024This film is packed with great stuff. Even though the story is pretty straightforward, the technology, especially the special effects, really brings this fantasy world to life. The final battle between the Jedi and the Sith Knights is the ultimate Star Wars action scene, with perfect pacing that makes it stand out in the prequel trilogy. This is definitely my favorite Star Wars movie.

SualE_pablOAugust 9, 2024This film series is the greatest of all time. Seriously, there's nothing quite like it. Just thinking about how blown away people were when they saw this movie in theaters three decades ago gives me the chills. Yeah, some people might say the plot is basic and the characters' missions are easy to complete, but George Lucas really created a whole new universe that's so vast, and those criticisms just don't matter. No other sci-fi movie back then could compare. Shout out to Lucas and to the limitless imaginations!

Herman_MossMay 22, 2024Maybe this isn't a standalone movie you can fully enjoy without the rest of the series, but it certainly shaped my initial impression of the Star Wars franchise. The imaginative setting is somewhat conservative, and certain aspects aren't cleverly executed or scientifically sound. The political conflict in the film comes across as somewhat childish, and the final plot twist is quite clichéd and cheesy. However, the soundtrack is undeniably classic!

Max_MartinezMay 22, 2024There's no denying that this fictional world showcases the creator's incredible imagination. But honestly, as the first film in the series, it does have its share of plot issues and falls into some predictable clichés. It's almost like you could create a "Hollywood Blockbuster Cliché Dictionary" based on this movie. It feels more like a collection of entertaining teasers until Anakin Skywalker's personal charisma comes into play.

Art_RatcliffMay 22, 2024A genuinely good movie stands the test of time, even after twenty or so years. I recently rewatched this classic and realized it featured many familiar actors, like Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, and Natalie Portman. The special effects, while not as advanced as those in today's films, still leave a strong impression. Plus, Ewan McGregor's accent is easily recognizable, and his hairstyle is cute, too.
