The romanticized scenes of interspecies communication between humans and animals at home environments seem to be increasingly rare. The values in this 1950s version of Cinderella are certainly limited and the characters are kinda stereotypical, but it’s quite lively and interesting, like the four angelic mice, for example. Another impression I have is the large scale of scenes, in which the appearance of the characters takes precedence over their expressions - there are surprisingly few close-ups at the climax of the dance, thus there's not enough to show the emotions of the characters. There are hints of Christianity in Cinderella's prayers and gratitude before and after the ball.

An animated musical romance movie. Watching it more than half a century later, I still find it beautiful - the story, music, and visuals are all so captivating. The level of animation in the 1950s is comparable to today’s; the fairytale comes alive on the screen, and I can’t help but feel that my childhood is back. The happy ending, where the good is rewarded and lovers get together, added a touch of warmth to my heart. So Cinderella in this version made the cut because of her small feet? Hahaha.

I didn't watch the whole film until today, and I don't like it too much. Cinderella is kind, and she has a lot of friends to help her; but without the help of her friends, she’ll still be locked in the attic without meeting any prince. I couldn't see any unique personality in this Disney princess, and the antagonist isn't three-dimensional enough, they’re just bad and evil. The ending is also too rushed, and it seems to be focusing on the animals only, making me feel as if I'm watching Tom and Jerry. Seeing the mice helping out reminds me of the saying, "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."
