K AugustJune 29, 2026I was surprisingly charmed by this one! This is Milos Forman's second movie, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see what the director of 'Amadeus' and 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' could do under the Czech New Wave of the 1960s. A young girl - Forman's 18-year-old sister-in-law Hana Brejchová in her first film role - decides that she wants more out of life than the town and factory she lives and works in, and it has the usual consequences for her and others. We might have seen this many times before, but I like the way the director handles the problems of love, life and youth.
Enjoy!
