REEA63July 21, 2024This film is very sad and repressive. The boy's fantasies about Malena are not the main theme; instead, it's about human malice. The ignorant and filthy townspeople are like the boys burning ants with magnifying glasses at the beginning of the film – their eventual apology is insignificant compared to the irreparable harm they've caused.

Despite young Renato seeming powerless and timid in reality, he tries his best to protect Malena in other ways. Renato's countless fantasies about her and meetings with her in his dreams are all unknown to her but feel incredibly real.

The scenes where they daydream and let their imaginations run wild have a touch of sensuality, and the romantic role-playing scenes pay homage to classic works, like a nod to Vittorio De Sica. It's so sad to see Monica Bellucci's stunning body being tormented by jealousy from other women and desire from men. And, oh, Ennio Morricone's music is absolutely outstanding!

Que genial hubiese sido que Malena hubiese matado a todos los hombres del pueblo y hubiese embadurnado de sangre todas las casas de esas mujeres egoístas y brutas... pero no, no lo abordaron de esa forma, seria imposible, abominable y surrealista. Claro, siempre sera mejor colocar una escena larguisima en donde sexualizan y maltratan a una mujer bella, encontrar a un menor de edad y exponerlo a escenas explícitas y pare de contar. claro, eso es mal fácil que retratar la ira y la desesperación femenina. Si, Es más fácil retratar a una sociedad corrompida y sucia que a una mujer harta.

As cenas em que sonham acordados e dão asas à imaginação têm um toque de sensualidade; as cenas românticas homenageiam obras clássicas, como uma homenagem a Vittorio De Sica.
