This series was a breath of fresh air needed for not only children but adults of all ages. The story line is pleasant with many hidden gems of complex relationships among the characters. The hero and his two trusty sidekicks with help of others combat the darkness which torments him and trys to destroy him. special effects add a new layer of enjoyment to the movie with the quidage game on brooms magic spells gone wrong add in a friendships and enemies forged.
The social tier class of rich/poor and entitlement shown adds new layers of awareness to this world and theirs.
Its a movie that you can sit down and watch many times with the family and friends over a bowl of popcorn.

This sets the stage for a decade-long magical adventure. The delightful story tells of justice and friendship through a group of innocent and endearing young cast members. Despite not delving into the darker and more complex themes of later works, it still stands as a masterpiece appreciated by audiences of all ages with its simple and genuine storytelling.

The Harry Potter trio still shines, even now. This first movie naturally lays the groundwork for the magical world and the beginning of the entire Harry Potter universe, with the conflict being less prominent. While it may be less intense than the later stories, it's the most heartwarming and enjoyable.

To be faced with the challenge of adapting "Harry Potter" for the silver screen must have been any director's nightmare- the chance of directing possibly the biggest film of this decade, but also the hardest audience-the millions of fans of the book who know every line and will pick up on every mistake. Being one of the above, I can only say that Christopher Columbus and all of the team working on HP did marvelously. The cast was brilliant (particularly notable are Alan Rickman as Snape, Maggie Smith as McGonagall, and the eerily creepy David Bradley as Argus Filch), the directing wonderful, and the scenery perfect. The only qualm is that it does not track perfectly with the book, but squeezed into 2.5 hours, this can only be expected. Well done all involved!

Like a lot of others, I refused to watch this film when it was originally released, thinking it was going to be another movie for kids, loosely taken from the source. Was I ever wrong? J.K. Rowling's novel was brilliantly taken from book to screen. The acting, directing and especially the special effects were tremendously awesome. Director Chris Columbus did a superb job with the direction, and I was surprised he didn't get an Academy Award nomination. The acting was excellent too, especially from the experienced actors like Alan Rickman playing Severus Snape. Truly one of his best performances. A great adaptation of a very popular book, a fine example of cinema.

As the start of the "Harry Potter" series, this movie really sets the stage well by introducing all the characters. Plus, it stays true to the magical world, showing things like ghosts, moving portraits, and moving staircases in Hogwarts. This is something that the later movies mostly leave out.

This trio is introduced to the world in such a magical way. Dan, Rup and Emma are the perfect Harry Potter cast.

In addition to being one of best created magical worlds in literature and of the film industry, the Harry Potter saga forged an entire generation to be interested in magic and adventure.
