Nathaniel_HarperAugust 4, 2025The film’s strength lies in its character work and pitch-perfect casting. Thora Birch gives a mesmerizing performance, balancing sensitivity with eccentric charm. Her ever-changing wardrobe adds visual flair. The director, clearly attuned to both visual art and music, also excels at capturing the strange disconnect between his characters and their environment.

Erik_TurnerJuly 30, 2025I loved this film so much that I sought out Daniel Clowes’ original comic. Interestingly, the character of Seymour doesn’t appear in the source material—he was created for the film, with Clowes incorporating aspects of himself, like his love of vinyl collecting. It’s a fascinating layer to an already rich adaptation.
