The editing cleverly weaves together amateur and professional archival footage, still photography, and new interviews with the original Z-Boys. Notably, the modern-day interviews are shot in black and white, which gives the old color footage a renewed vitality and disrupts traditional hierarchies between past and present, amateur and expert.

The soundtrack pulls no punches. With Jimi Hendrix’s “Freedom” and Black Sabbath’s “Into the Void,” the film instantly immerses us in the rebellious spirit of the late '60s and early '70s. The energy of those decades surges through both the lyrics and the melody, making the music feel like an organic extension of the film’s world.
