Ex Machina (2014)★ 7.8/10

The film’s metallic aesthetic is superb, and the suspenseful atmosphere in the first half made me think I was watching a "Black Mirror" movie, given their similar thematic styles. Unfortunately, the ending feels lackluster, squandering the buildup and failing to delve deeper into the human-robot relationship, leaving it a cold, technical film.

"Ex Machina" tells a simple story but maintains a high level of dramatic tension throughout, showcasing exceptional screenwriting. The music and cinematography are oppressive, creating a sense of unease that engages the audience. The script poses thought-provoking questions: How should we interact with AI? What are the limits of their intelligence? Could we ultimately be manipulated by them?

Such an amazing thriller, with actual relevant and urgent discussions on our colective facination over AI.
