DreamWorks should take pride in their adaptation of this Nordic saga for its character design, pacing, and emotional depth, making the film comparable to any animation nominated at the Oscars. Some of the 3D effects even surpass those in "Avatar," in my opinion.

Missing the chance to see this on the big screen is a regret of mine. Thankfully, the heartwarming story compensates for the lack of stunning 3D and IMAX visuals. The ending, featuring a boy who loses his left foot standing together with a dragon without its tailfin, evokes a peculiar sense of harmony. Perhaps our lifelong quest searching for friends, lovers, and confidantes is also a search for this unique harmony.

One of the best animated films out there

A marvelous animated film with great attention to detail that makes it one of the best animated films made by CGI so far.
But in addition to its technical quality, I liked the story, it is quite true that it is an adaptation of a book, and perhaps that is why it is much better than others that have a very weak script.
Here is a good story behind it, predictable but it must be remembered that it is for children, and with great animation.

Dragons and friendship

Inspired by the Scandinavian culture, this fun film uses dragons to teach us how to overcome fear and find our place in the world.

Vikings and dragons

Based on Viking culture, this DreamWorks' animated gem tells a beautiful story about companionship, self-improvement and, most of all, dragons. A lot of dragons.

DDani a 24 fps.June 27, 2025
