MAXIMIANO-Max8July 25, 2024The film uses a game show, perfectly aligned with the protagonist's life experiences, to highlight a fantasy of achieving upward mobility. It skillfully intertwines themes of a person's origin, growth of the Indian lower-class, crime, and love, all linked by a TV show and ultimately culminating in the predictable success and romantic reunion. It’s undeniably dramatic.

lindawicJuly 25, 2024Srinivas and Jamal aren't simply good or bad; Jamal represents the pure, hopeful part of Srinivas's heart. Reality, especially in the harsh environment of an Indian slum, is cruel. Srinivas is a more authentic depiction of those struggling to survive, whose kindness has to be hidden due to necessity, whereas Jamal's character is overly idealized.

One of THE best Danny Boyle films and to me, the one who very fairly launched Dev Patel to the world, in addition to giving us not only a great performance by the late legendary Irrfan Khan and the Bollywoodyan cherry on top, the after-credit scene with the now and then iconic Jai-Ho soundtrack. Everything about this movie talks to me, even the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a separate work from the original book, because it still preserves its essence so clearly. The storytelling format is amazing, so innovative for the time. The cinematography is impeccable. The soundtrack matches the editing seamlessly. I don't see anything wrong with this and I'd watch it as many times as I came across it (as I do), despite several eyerolls on the part of my Indian friends. Guess you can't have everything (but I can!)

To talk about Slumdog Millionaire is to talk about a film with a frenetic pace, a powerful plot, and great hooking power.
Cinematographically it has a spectacular montage, which, although it has the appearance of abusing the "flashbacks" to the point of making the viewer lose themselves, that does not happen. A must-watch.

Lee RosalJune 28, 2025O do Boyle que mais demorei pra assistir e não sei dizer exatamente o porquê. Sua dinâmica é bem louca e tem aquele folego bem típico do diretor, mas já dava pra notar sua outra faceta, aquela que descamba pro seu cinema mais próximo do Yesterday, creio. Dev Patel ta uma gracinha, e eu amei a personagem Latika, quando ela vinha a tona o filme ganhava um novo respiro pra mim.

La realidad, especialmente en el entorno duro de un barrio pobre indio, es cruel. Srinivas es una representación más auténtica de aquellos que luchan por sobrevivir, cuya bondad debe ocultarse por necesidad, mientras que el personaje de Jamal está demasiado idealizado.
