Esteban EordoghJanuary 29, 2025"Twilight" is one of those movies that you either love or hate, but it's undeniable that it left a significant mark on pop culture. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling novel, the film took the world by storm when it was released in 2008.
From a personal perspective, "Twilight" is a unique blend of teenage romance and supernatural fantasy. The story follows Bella Swan, a high school student who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington, and falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious and brooding vampire.
What stands out most about "Twilight" is its atmospheric setting. The constant overcast skies and lush greenery of Forks create a moody and enchanting backdrop that perfectly complements the story's tone. The cinematography captures the ethereal beauty of the Pacific Northwest, making the town itself feel like a character in the film.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who play Bella and Edward, have undeniable chemistry. While some may criticize their performances as stiff, there's an awkward charm to their interactions that feels authentic to the teenage experience. Stewart's portrayal of Bella is introspective and relatable, while Pattinson brings an enigmatic intensity to Edward.
The film's soundtrack is another highlight. Featuring artists like Paramore and Muse, the music enhances the emotional beats of the story and adds to the overall ambiance. Songs like "Supermassive Black Hole" and "Decode" are perfectly chosen to underscore the film's dramatic moments.
However, "Twilight" is not without its flaws. The pacing can be slow at times, and some of the special effects, particularly the sparkling vampire skin, haven't aged well. Additionally, the dialogue can be cheesy, but for many fans, that's part of the movie's charm.
In conclusion, "Twilight" is a film that excels in creating a captivating and immersive world. It's a love story that's both sweet and intense, set against a backdrop of supernatural intrigue. Whether you're a fan of the genre or just looking for a nostalgic trip back to the late 2000s, "Twilight" offers a memorable experience that's worth revisiting.
Rating
I would give "Twilight" a rating of 7 out of 10 stars.
Here's why:
- Atmospheric Setting: The moody, overcast scenery of Forks, Washington, creates a compelling and immersive backdrop.
- Chemistry Between Leads: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have a unique chemistry that adds to the film's charm, despite some criticisms of their performances.
- Soundtrack: The music enhances the emotional experience, featuring tracks from well-known bands that perfectly match the film's tone.
- Nostalgic Appeal: For many, "Twilight" holds a special place as a nostalgic favorite from the late 2000s.
However, the film does have its flaws, such as occasionally slow pacing, special effects that haven't aged well, and some cheesy dialogue. Despite these issues, "Twilight" remains a memorable and influential film in the supernatural romance genre.

Bert_RosaApril 7, 2024Films on vampires have always intrigued me, and "Twilight" was my introduction to vampire cinema. The first three movies offer a complete and suspenseful narrative that's compelling, though the latter two lack the same narrative tension and appeal.

Jovana4funApril 7, 2024"Twilight" stands out as a visually stunning vampire movie with an uplifting theme. The love story between Bella and Edward is beautifully portrayed (while Edward's vampiric family chooses not to harm humans), combining exquisite cinematography with commendable acting.

Bella comes to town with her father after her parents' divorce. In the new school, Bella notices a group of strange people who behave strangely. They are independent and mysterious. In lab class, she meets one of the weirdos, the handsome blond Edward, who fascinates her with his good looks and good conversation. Bella gradually develops feelings for Edward, but other eccentrics are wary of her. Meanwhile, there are a series of deaths in the town. Bella's father is a policeman and is responsible for investigating the case. However, the involvement of the police did not stop the spread of death threats. In an accident, Edward rescues Bella. From then on, she discovered that he had extraordinary superpowers and began to suspect that he was a murderer. In the face of the facts, Edward confessed to her that he was a vegetarian vampire, so the murderer was someone else.
