theohoratioMarch 2, 2024You know, if I had to pick, my least favorite thing about the first movie would be those heavy-handed political and social commentaries about Brazilian society. Luckily, they didn't hog too much screen time and mainly just set the plot in motion. But then, here comes the sequel, throwing those political statements and social critiques right in your face, making them the whole point of the movie. It's like if the first film was a nuclear blast, this one is like spending two hours dealing with the fallout. I mean the first flick is a badass action-packed ride with some killer character development. But this one? It's basically just a straight-up political thriller, which, I'll be honest, isn't really my cup of tea.

thbzcrt_7March 2, 2024Wow, I completely missed the fact that this sequel jumps ahead about 13 years after the original flick! It's like a direct ramp-up of everything we saw in the first one. While the original gave off serious Tony Scott vibes, this time Padilha's going for a vibe more akin to a Michael Mann flick, minus the blue hues, or maybe even a touch of Christopher Nolan. The story sprawls out way more, but it's still just as savage. I gotta hand it to them, in many ways, this sequel tops the first. The filmmaking feels more confident and polished. But you know what? It's missing that perfect crescendo. The ending feels a bit rushed and too tidy, especially with all the stakes that kept climbing throughout.

Xenia.SrMarch 2, 2024So, the sequel to "Elite Squad" tries to amp up the scale, but honestly, it loses that gritty magic from the first one. They traded it in for a more polished, run-of-the-mill corruption flick. And what's up with Captain Nascimento? He's in the dark about the corruption for way too long – like, why is he even there? And don't get me started on his son's storyline. Saw that coming from a mile away. Such a shame they went for the standard route. Overall, it's okay, but nothing beats the awesomeness of the original "Elite Squad."

Tusch74March 2, 2024Amazing. I couldn't imagine the sequel being as good as the first film, but it is. The reason is that it doesn't try and recreate the first film on any level. The drug lords and corrupt cops are now joined by corrupt politicians and the militia to create a different story, but at the same time, it feels like a natural progression of the first film. One last thing: Wagner Moura is fantastic as Nascimento yet again.

Ninja_sMarch 2, 2024This movie is incredible. And I’d recommend watching the first film, just because it’s great in its own right and introduces all the characters. However, this film stands on its own. The director sought to make this stand out from the first film and he succeeded. This has fantastic action sequences, great dialogue, and some hilarious dark humor. But most of all, it’s intelligent and extremely well made, without many distractions. For some viewers, this film might actually be a learning experience. If you want to see a hardcore action film with a good plot. This is it. You won't be disappointed.

Timeless Tales BWMarch 2, 2024
Timeless Tales BWMarch 2, 2024The gunfight scenes in this film are insanely realistic. But let's talk about something deeper - when you're actually holding a gun, do you feel fear or excitement? It's a complex mix, isn't it? And the way the flashy regime marches on while blood stains the backdrop - it's a chilling juxtaposition. They're so quick to abandon the nameless bodies, forgetting they're the ones who laid the foundation for this city. It's a stark reminder of the harsh reality lurking beneath the surface.

FastAndActionMarch 2, 2024This movie is much more intense than the previous one. It boldly reflects real social issues, capturing the dark side and the widespread corruption of the system across all classes. The storyline and entertaining aspects brought the film to a whole new level, with a pretty thought-provoking ending. It's truly an impressive movie.
