Tusch74March 6, 2024It's actually better than expected. First off, it’s well-crafted, and the male lead is actually well-portrayed. Plus, each supporting character is quite memorable and pretty likable. Since this movie is a Disney production, it's not really meant to be a horror film; it's more of an adventure with a touch of spookiness. Also, many of the special effects in the movie are truly impressive and really fit the theme of "adventure." Overall, the pacing of the entire movie is quite comfortable, giving me the feeling of going through a haunted house with my friends—it's pretty good.

wickeremergedMarch 6, 2024The male lead and Rosario Dawson really go all out to be over-the-top and funny in this movie, but it just doesn't quite feel natural or funny enough. Even with the seasoned performances of Danny DeVito and Tiffany Haddish, they can't rescue this circus-like comedy from feeling awkward. And don't get me started on the Marvel-style dialogue that's so prevalent in commercial films these days—self-entertaining and annoyingly quippy. The movie does have a bit of imagination, but I caught myself daydreaming more than once about how different it would be if Tim Burton from his prime had directed it. Those thoughts kept me going through the whole movie, and looking back, it wasn't an easy ride...

Paula PardillosMarch 5, 2024I mean... Mr. Stanfield is an absolute treasure. A family film with some horror sprinkled around, pretty cool.

thbzcrt_7December 5, 2023Not your conventional horror film, it’s light-hearted, funny, and suitable for all ages. It’s scary but also cute, cueing laughter the whole time. The various settings in the movie also gave physical forms to Disney rides of the same name, which is like riding on an extended version of Haunted Mansion. A relaxedly splendid viewing experience, the story turns heartwarming, perhaps even moving, towards the end. In short, it’s a film suitable for the whole family.

troyd-3September 25, 2023A good horror for kids. I think I liked it better than the original. It was funny too.

FastAndActionSeptember 25, 2023It was scarier than I thought it would be, with quite a lot of frightening scenes and scary images that I have a feeling kids under the age of 10 would find frightening. But the movie was also very humorous and there was a lot of laughter in the theater. At the same time, there was quite a lot of touching content as many of the characters in the movie have gone through the sad experience of losing loved ones. The haunted house itself is really fun, and many of the scenes from the movie are featured in the theme park rides, which brings back fond memories. Jamie Lee Curtis is really great as Madame Leota - not only is she funny, she also has the most gorgeous costume. Tiffany Haddish as the psychic and Owen Wilson as the priest are also hilarious.

tinaShaySeptember 25, 2023Wasn't expecting much but still had a good time watching it. The first half of the movie was okay, but the later part of the movie was a disaster. Casting was surprisingly appropriate. Still wouldn't recommend bringing kids to see it though, not scary but a little intimidating.

toKoralíSeptember 23, 2023I think it's pretty good, perfect for family members who can't watch a ghost movie but are curious.Disney produces really good movies, and I personally feel that all ages are adapted to watch it as a family movie.

pixieneSeptember 23, 2023Great, not a horror movie in any sense of the word, and arguably kid-friendly. It's workmanlike commercial product, even as I haven't seen a villainous protagonist this facile and thoroughly bad in a while. While there are childhood encounters that can be cited as reasons for him to be a villain, it's rare that he sticks to being bad from start to finish.

saNTOS_7September 23, 2023
saNTOS_7September 23, 2023With Disney's backward-looking approach to production, some of the genre's movies could have been much better if they had effectively subtracted from their length and content. Unfortunately, this movie doesn't fit that mold. Ghosts in the age limit to bring the sense of horror is almost zero; the plot in the formula limit to give the surprise is almost zero; some lines in the time limit with the nutritional value is almost zero. Although this film is an attempt at publicity for Disney, the overly cautious Disney fails to capitalize on this opportunity. The occasional laughs, and the action scenes created by the special effects, are the few things that make the movie watchable.

theohoratioSeptember 23, 2023
theohoratioSeptember 23, 2023The pacing of the movie is questionable; an hour passes without any critical advancement in the plot. You can tell that the director and screenwriter have been out of touch with the lives of ordinary people for long, as the parts they find funny are not funny and the parts they find touching are hard to empathize with. Disney has once again served the audience a seemingly exquisite but tasteless "meal".

Let's Talk About...September 23, 2023
Let's Talk About...September 23, 2023It's neither scary, nor funny, nor good. The story is so clichéd, the special effects are so cheesy, and the main character is simply so inept that whoever watches it is wasting their time. And there’re so many familiar scenes at the beginning of the movie.
