"The Drop" tries to depict violence with restraint, but the muted tone and uneven direction dull the impact. The film never quite resonates with the audience — yet its ending delivers a jolt that almost makes up for the earlier shortcomings.

The plot juggles too many threads, making the film feel scattered and sluggish. While the story itself has potential, it suffers from uneven pacing and a lack of narrative tension. I found this movie by accident. It is a New York crime drama. The stars are Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and James Gandolfini ( one of his last movies, if not the very last ) . The screenplay is based on a story by Dennis Lehane, so the source material is very good. Lehane has a reputation when it comes to crime stories - is the author of Mystic River, which was made into a great movie. Here the action is a little slow, the conclusion not very shocking . But the story is enticing and the cast is first-rate.

Tom Hardy me encanta en estos papeles de mafia. Acá lo juntan con James Gandolfini. Dos buenos actores, una buena película.
