Beauty and the Beast (2017)★ 6.9/10

It recreates the classic animated film with an almost identical plot. The visuals, costumes, and props are more exquisite than the live-action version of Cinderella. It's a feast for the eyes, with gorgeous leads to boot. Musical numbers are decent, too. You can relive your childhood memories with this movie, but don't expect surprises, creativity, or narrative depth.

What do fairy-tale movies need? They need viewers to see a beautiful woman in a dreamy princess gown falling in love with a handsome, well-built prince in a castle adorned with crystal chandeliers. Emma Watson is beautiful, and that stunning yellow fluffy princess gown is enough to satisfy all my princess dreams. When it comes to fairy tales, Disney hits home.

Far exceeded my expectations. The previous adaptation that impressed me the most is Jean Cocteau's, and there's no doubt that the appeals of this version are the art, visual effects and music, and it manages to maximize those strengths as well. A star-studded cast with outstanding supporting characters means this version will be hard to top, at least. The so-called gay element is just a mood-setter. Also, I, as a guy, couldn't help my excitement at seeing the hero turn back into a human being in the ending.

It's so awkward it embarrassed me. This is a very mediocre remake, and probably because the original is such a classic, Disney could not change much in this adaptation. The homage to the original is really well done, but it can't hide the fact that the story is hollow and boring. After all, everyone knows this fairytale, so it's hard to please young viewers without something fresh, and there's not much of a difference between a serious homage to the animated version and a boring plot.

Beauty and the Beast is one of the best fairy tales and I believe this version has all the aspects that made people like it at first. Songs, beautiful places, drama. Visual effects are very realistic. About Emma Watson’s Belle, I’m a huge fan of the actress, so even though some people say she was not at her best I can’t be this guy hahaha I think she did a good job, even not being a singer and having to learn just for this role.

A complicated but beautiful love. Learn about one of Disney’s classics with new and fresh cutting-edge special effects. Emma Watson gives a wonderful performance.

A magical castle is the setting for one of the best-known love stories of all time. A classic that comes once again to the big screen to stay in our hearts.
