Cruella (2021)★ 7.4/10

Rating it 7/10. It stands out among Disney's live-action adaptations of classic animations. Though the plot itself doesn't offer many highlights, the fashion element truly shines and is enhanced by the music. The mixture of rock and punk, along with various elements from the 70s, deconstructs Cruella in an innovative way.

The film makes me feel torn between being dazzled by creative visual designs and puzzled over what the director is struggling to convey. Cruella, potentially a character rich in depth, ends up as a mere curiosity, an empty shell. After getting over the stunnig visual effects, I'm still puzzled as to why she evolves into the extreme villain seen in the sequels. Nonetheless, the performance between the two Emmas is thrilling, making the film memorable despite its flaws.

It's a story of a villain growing into a supervillain, which is surprisingly quite enjoyable. The two female leads deliver brilliant performances, and the fashion shows are cool and refreshing. Unfortunately, the villain's evilness is too superficial and only expressed through dialogue. She's constantly saying that "I've turned bad, I'm a villain, I'm going to do bad things and destroy stuff..." rather than internalizing it like the Joker, who's gradually consumed by darkness. Also, some scenes look fake, probably due to budget constraints.

The viewing experience is quite disjointed. On one hand, I'm frequently amazed by the visual design; on the other hand, I don't understand what the director is trying to express. Cruella, a character with ample depth for exploration, ultimately becomes a purely sensationalist shell of a character. Behind all the visual spectacle, I still don't understand why she gradually evolved into the supervillain depicted in the sequel. However, the performances of the two Emmas are superb - their chemistry and tension can be felt through the screen. Though imperfect, the film's memorable enough.

Incredible costumes, awesome sountrack, Emma Stone and Emma Thompson in a same movie were just a gift to the audience. I saw a classic character in a whole new light.

As a huge Dalmatians’ fan, I didn’t like what they did with this movie. They kind of created a new person based on Cruella, because many things do not make sense when you compare her with the original one.

One of the best parts of this movie are the costumes. It’s clear they invested a lot of money on that so it could be the most realistic possible. Every scene is full of beautiful dresses, coats, shoes and, believe it or not, glasses.

Excelente! A versão do conto de fadas do Diabo Veste Prada, a personagem é incrivelmente, a trilha sonora e perfeitas. Com uma boa direção e enredo bem explanado. Amei.

Está película me encantó realmente cumplió mis expectativas los personajes espectaculares el drama estuvo fantástico la actriz principal cruela fabulosa en toda su fases me gusta más que spiderman somos Wen este personaje 100% ella la villana se mostró a la altura que aprendisage se deja que no es bueno vivir con dolor en el alma que aunque mostraba su fuerza era una mujer que se estaba quemando por dentro y que necesitaba perdonar y soltar su pasado que aunque fue despojada de su niñez por su propia madre tenía que perdonar pero es impresionante el drama las escenas.

É a história de uma vilã que se transforma em supervilã, o que é surpreendentemente divertido. As duas protagonistas apresentam performances brilhantes e os desfiles de moda são ótimos. Infelizmente, a maldade da vilã é muito superficial, expressa somente por meio de diálogos. Ela fica constantemente dizendo “me tornei má, sou uma vilã, vou fazer coisas ruins e destruir coisas…” em vez de internalizar isso como o Coringa, que é gradualmente consumido pela escuridão. Além disso, algumas cenas parecem falsas, provavelmente devido a restrições orçamentárias.

A experiência é bastante desconexa: por um lado, fiquei impressionado com o design visual; por outro, não entendi o que o diretor estava tentando expressar. Cruella, uma personagem com ampla profundidade para exploração, acaba se tornando uma casca puramente sensacionalista. Apesar disso, as atuações das duas Emmas são excelentes – sua química e tensão podem ser sentidas através da tela. Embora imperfeito, o filme é bastante memorável.

Las dos protagonistas femeninas ofrecen interpretaciones brillantes y los desfiles de moda son geniales y refrescantes. La maldad de la villana es demasiado superficial y solo se expresa a través del diálogo. Constantemente está diciendo cosas como "me he vuelto malvada, soy una villana, voy a hacer cosas malas y destruir cosas." en lugar de internalizarlo como el Joker, quien gradualmente es consumido por la oscuridad. Además, algunas escenas parecen falsas, probablemente debido a restricciones presupuestarias.
